About Janelle M. Baldwin
I wear many hats, including storyteller, reader, artist, gardener, and mom.
I live and write in beautiful Alberta, Canada, alongside my husband, three young adults, and a pair of mischievous Shetland Sheepdogs.
I thoroughly enjoy the company of books and read several per week. I will delve into almost any story if it sounds interesting. The genres I gravitate toward most are fantasy, literary fiction, and mystery/suspense. I am thankful that I had a mum who read to me when I was a child—she’s the reason for my lifelong love of reading and learning. My first job (and my favourite) was working in a book store. At one time, I had a greeting card company and owned a wedding and event videography business with my husband. I also worked in design and marketing for many years.
I have been a storyteller since early childhood. My dolls and stuffed animals were my first audience, listening to countless stories until I learned how to write them down. To help fuel my passion, my elementary school teachers sent me to the Young Authors’ conference each year in grades five through seven. In high school, I made my first attempt at writing a novel. I didn’t complete it, but I still have it in its original binder, written in longhand.
My high school stories often leaned toward the painful and the macabre. Life’s challenges continue to shape my stories, along with faith, hope, and love. The epitaph trilogy is my first series.
